Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Discovery Station – Desert Reptiles

Come down to the Usery Nature Center and visit Ranger Derik and learn about the cold blooded creatures that call the Sonoran Desert home.
Have you ever wondered what is crawling under your feet when you’re out on the trail or what might be calling your backyard home? Head to the critter area in the back of the Nature Center and stop by a discovery table featuring living and preserved reptile species that can be found throughout the park and the Sonoran Desert as a whole. Ranger Derik will be available to explain the nature history of the desert and answer your burning questions. You will also have the opportunity to look at guidebooks to identify the creatures you have found in the park or around the valley. Coloring pages will also be available for the kids.
