Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Discovery Station – Desert Mammals

Ranger Nikki will share information on a variety of desert mammals including coyote, fox, bobcat, mountain lion, javelina, jackrabbit and more! You can examine replica skulls to compare features of carnivores, herbivores and omnivores as well as tanned hides to understand how camouflage is an important defense mechanism in our desert environment. Take home information on Living with Desert Wildlife and coloring sheets for the kids will be available. If you plan to do any outside activity before or after this program, be sure to wear closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water. Restrooms and water are available at the Nature Center.
