Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Desert 101 Hike

Join Ranger Eric on National Take-a-Hike Day for a guided hike to learn about the animals, plants, and ecology of the Sonoran Desert. We will hike 3.5 miles roundtrip on a loop up the Slate, Quartz, Go John, and Jasper Trails. It will be on moderate grade, with frequently rocky or uneven ground. We should have a view of the sunset near the end of the hike, getting back to the trailhead shortly thereafter. Please wear protective clothing and/or sunscreen, wear sturdy footwear, and carry ample water, electrolytes, and snacks for yourself. Restrooms are available at the trailhead parking.

Limit 15 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at 602-506-2930 ext. 8 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on Thursday, 11/16/23.
