Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Desert 101 Hike
October 26, 2023 @ 7:30 am - 10:30 am
Free with Park Fee
Join Ranger Eric for an interpretive hike to learn about the animals, plants, and ecology of the Sonoran Desert. This is generally the last time of year to find reptiles active, so we may see lizards, snakes, or even a tortoise. Migrant birds will be still passing through, including sparrow flocks starting to arrive. We will hike approximately 3.3 miles roundtrip on a loop including portions of Bluff, Granite, and Stoneman Wash Trails. It will be on easy-moderate grade, with frequently sandy, rocky, or uneven ground. Please wear protective clothing and/or sunscreen, wear sturdy footwear, and carry ample water, electrolytes, and snacks for yourself. Restrooms are available at the Nature Center.
MEETING LOCATION: McDowell Nature Center. See park map here: https://www.maricopacountyparks.net/assets/1/6/mcdowell-8×11.pdf
