Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Crested Saguaro in Sunset

Ranger Olivia leads this picturesque hike to watch the sunset while also learning about saguaros along the way. We will see the sunset, saguaros, a crested saguaro, and maybe some evening critters as well. You may bring your blacklight and regular flashlight to look for evening critters(optional). This hike will be about 3-3.5 miles starting on the Escondido trail, where we will connect onto the Cinch trail, and finally get on the Scenic trail to hike up to the crested saguaro. The Escondido and Cinch trails are all flat with a few areas that have loose rocks/sand, but the portion of Scenic we will be on is rockier and more uneven with a slight incline on the way up so please wear closed-toe shoes. This will be an out and back hike, that is rated easy-moderate. Be sure to bring plenty of water as it still may be a little warm when we begin. There are restrooms and water available at the trailhead.
MEETING LOCATION: Four Peaks Staging Area. Once you enter the park you will make your first right.

If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 10/07/26.
