Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Creepy Crawly Critters Hike

Spiders, scorpions, and snakes OH MY! It’s spooky season in the Sonoran Desert and Ranger Shaun is here to celebrate! Come along on this Halloween themed hike to look for creepy crawlies in the desert with flashlights and blacklights and learn about how the spooky things in the desert get by! Where do they live, what do they eat, how do they do the creepy things that they do? Hopefully we’ll even see some up close! This is an after dark hike, so flashlights are required as are closed toed shoes and water bottles. Blacklights (UV) are encouraged but the Ranger will have at least one for the group. Walking or hiking sticks can be useful as the trail can be more difficult in the dark but are not generally required. This is a family friendly event but please be aware of younger children’s sensitivity to darkness as even adults can find the desert intimidating at night.

If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list.
