Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Creatures of the Night Hike

Ranger Nikki will lead you along the trails to seek out scorpions, owls, bats, kangaroo rats, stink bugs and more! The 1.6-mile route starts at Overton Trail in the Nature Center parking lot to make a balloon loop on GO John, Jasper and Slate Trails. The terrain is mainly rocky and uneven with small to medium rocks underfoot but does have some areas that are more level. Bring your regular flashlight and a blacklight. No pets, please. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water. Restrooms and water are available at the Nature Center, near the Overton Trailhead access point. Please bring $7 exact cash for the self-pay station or your annual pass to display on your vehicle.

Limit 20 participants. To register, please call the Cave Creek Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 8 with your name, phone number, number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list.  Registration for this program will close on 7/31/25.
