Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Creatures of the Morning Hike

March 15, 2025 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Free with Park Fee

Join Ranger Kevin for a 2.6-mile hike on the Cottonwood trail. Trail is rated easy, with some loose rock, uneven terrain and little elevation change. We will be on the lookout for all kinds of wildlife along the way, as well as wildflowers. Some animals we may see include mule deer, javelina, squirrels, rabbits, birds and perhaps a reptile or two. Afterwards, swing by our Discovery Center between 11am and 3pm to enjoy Lake Pleasant’s Open House, with animals you can meet, displays and information about the park. Please wear sturdy closed-toed shoes and bring plenty of water. Hats and sunscreen are also highly recommended. Restrooms are available near the trailhead. No pets, please.

MEETING LOCATION: Cottonwood Day Use Area/Trailhead (use lake’s north entrance)

Limit 20 participants. To register, please email Ranger Kevin at kevin.thorson@maricopa.gov  with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please email ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list.   Registration for this program will close on 3/13.
