Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Ancients of the Deserts Hohokam Hike

The route uses both the Spur Cross and Tortuga trails for 3.5 miles and will gain 410 ft over the length of the hike. The terrain on this hike will be rocky and uneven, if you have balance difficulties hiking poles are encouraged. No pets, please. Wear close-toed shoes and bring plenty of water. Restrooms are available at the covered tables but there is no potable water in the park so please bring plenty with you. Also, Spur Cross is typically several degrees cooler than the Phoenix Valley and tends to be windy so make sure to check the weather prior to the hike.

Limit 15 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 8 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 3/6/26.
