HeatSync Labs: 3d Printer Basics – First Print

Go from no experience to having customized and printed a whistle or key-chain.
You will learn how to;
- Download 3d models from file sharing sites
- Make simple modifications with TinkerCAD
- Use the basic settings in the 3d software (Orca Slicer)
- Change the filament on the printer
- Start a print and verify the first layers are successful
- Understand common problems and solutions.
You will need a free TinkerCAD account so please sign up in advance. The class is limited to 4 students so everyone can get hands-on time. The instruction portion is an hour and the printing part may take up to an hour as we take turns.
This class is best for adults, and kids 10+ with an adult. Younger kids may require more of your help.
A class isn’t required to begin using the 3d printers. Many people around the hackerspace will help when they have time if you ask and are patient. I am offering this as an option for an overview class for those who may prefer hands on guided experience at the start.
