Flagstaff Festival of Science: Science Bedtime Stories

Featuring five local authors and their books to engage children. This filmed series can be enjoyed at home with your child before bed or at anytime. We are proud to present: Julie Blake Gidley, Monica Brown, Erica P. Mason, Diana Reich, and Susan Lamb.

This collection of children’s stories introduces young readers to themes of nature, resilience, and connection. Ponderosa Pete tells the tale of a curious squirrel named Bertie who learns about forest health from a wise old pine. Earth’s Incredible Places: Grand Canyon is an illustrated guide filled with fascinating facts about the Grand Canyon’s wildlife, people, geography, and history. In Life With Mimbo: Mimbo’s First Tooth, children are reminded of the importance of love and comfort at the end of a hard day. Butterflies on Carmen Street follows Julianita as she explores the beauty of her community and the life cycle of monarch butterflies. In Henry the Reading Dog, a lovable pup finds purpose and friendship when he helps a struggling student gain confidence, becoming her school’s first reading dog.

Part of Flagstaff Festival of Science, a free annual 10-day event wholly designed to promote awareness and enthusiasm for science in and about northern Arizona and beyond, and is fondly known as the Best 10 Days of the Year. Established in 1990, it is the longest, continuously running, entirely free science festival in the world.
