Flagstaff Festival of Science: Cliffs Ranger Station Open House

FreeVisit the newly furnished Cliffs Ranger Station on National Public Lands Day (free entrance).
Cliffs Ranger Station is one of Arizona’s oldest surviving log structures and Walnut Canyon National Monument’s original headquarters. NPS preservation staff at the cabin will share the history of the cabin and how the NPS preserves historic structures. Usually closed to the public, for this event the cabin is accessed by an easy self-guided 1.5-mile roundtrip hike from the Walnut Canyon National Monument Visitor Center.

The Flagstaff Festival of Science is pleased to present “The Mammoth World of Science” September 22- October 1, 2023! The Festival features 10-days of engaging events and programs, all free, for the community to enjoy and celebrate the wonders of science!
This year’s theme has been designed to showcase the fascinating research and scientific discovery of Beth Shapiro, PhD.
The Festival offers a wide variety of presentations, hands-on workshops, interactive discussions, classroom talks and guided tours led by outstanding Flagstaff scientists and STEAM professionals. Festival-goers will have the opportunity to learn about ancient cultures, the environment of the Colorado Plateau, wildlife, astronomy and biology, as well as many topics at the intersection of the sciences and the arts.
Festival events highlight the innovative research happening right here in Flagstaff! Events are held in a variety of venues and institutions throughout northern Arizona.
