Chandler Public Library: The Nature of Things – Flora Fronteriza Native Plant Restoration in Arizona & Sonora Borderlands

Want to learn how native plants are making a comeback in our state? Francesca Claverie, Native Plant Program Director for Borderlands Restoration Network, will introduce the recent native plant restoration projects in Arizona and Sonora. She will highlight the importance of regionally sourced native plants, and share some basics of native plant propagation.

Borderlands Restoration Network (BRN) is a 501c3 based in Patagonia, AZ, that is dedicated to ecological restoration in the US/Mexico Borderlands. Active since 2013, the Native Plant Program of BRN has worked on both sides of the US/Mexico border, educating the public and NGOs about the importance of native plants and regionally sourced plant materials.

This program is a part of The Nature of Things, a series of free programs featuring guest speakers and conversations that foster a sense of wonder about science, cultural resources and the natural world. Presentations will encourage participants to consider the importance of conservation in connection with natural ecosystems and cultural heritage, locally and around the world. The Nature of Things is a collaboration between the Chandler Nature Center and the Chandler Public Library.
