Chandler Public Library: The Nature of Things – Arizona’s Native Trout

Although many people think about Arizona as a desert state, it has a variety of ecosystems, as well as high elevation regions with two species of native trout, both of which wound up on the endangered species list in the 1970s. Join author Ron Dungan as he shares a largely unexplored aspect of Arizona eco-history as well as his knowledge of the state’s diversity of landscapes and fish!

Ron Dungan was an award-winning reporter for The Arizona Republic and KJZZ, a public radio affiliate. His work has appeared in Gray’s Sporting Journal, The Journal of Arizona History, New Mexico Historical Review, The New York Times, The Miami Herald, USA Today, and other publications. He is the author of The Worst Fishing Dog Ever: And Other Essays. His story on U.S. border history was part of a package that won a Pulitzer Prize for the Arizona Republic in 2018.
