Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Sunrise Hike

Join Ranger Nikki on a 6-mile hike at sunrise to enjoy the sights and sounds of the morning desert. We will watch for birds, mammals and reptiles as the sun rises and the day warms up. We might also see nocturnal creatures finishing their business and settling down to rest. The route follows Hedgehog, San Tan and lower Goldmine trails to make a loop and the terrain varies from smooth and level to uneven with small to medium rocks underfoot. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring a hat, sunscreen, snacks and plenty of water. Restrooms and water are available at the Nature Center.
