Tucson Botanical Gardens: Dragonflies and Damselflies

Dragonflies and damselflies are remarkable creature that can be found in most freshwater habitats from backyard ponds to raging mountain torrents. They are predators throughout their lives, first as nymphs underwater and rule the skies as adults.

This class introduces these insects, focusing on their diversity, life cycle, and habits. We will also talk about the basics for identifying them, so that students will be ready to head to the nearest wetland to observe them. The Santa Cruz Dragonfly Festival runs all of September and this class supports the wonderful event!
