Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Creatures of the Night Hike
August 13 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Free with Park Fee
Join Ranger Eric to look for scorpions and other nocturnal wildlife on an easy to moderate hike along the Waterfall Trail. The first 0.5-mile is paved and barrier-free, but the trail becomes rocky or uneven in places for the last 0.4-mile. We may shorten the hike depending on the heat or if thunderstorms occur. Wildlife may include scorpions, spiders, insects, owls, nightjars, reptiles, and mammals. Please bring your own flashlight or headlamp, ample water and electrolytes (it is highly recommended to pre-hydrate and take electrolytes before you arrive), and wear sturdy footwear. A blacklight is also recommended, but the ranger will have one to point out scorpions with.
