Mesa Arts Center: Framing Workshop for Fine Art and Photographic Prints
November 7 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
$52
This workshop will guide students through the process of framing an image using archival materials. The instructor will demonstrate using a large mat-cutting instrument, as well as a hand-held cutting tool. Each person will cut a beveled mat window to size, then secure their artwork to the mat materials. At the end of the workshop, each participant will have an archivally framed image and understand how to frame other prints. We also will discuss topics such as appropriate frame sizes and mat colors, and the reasoning behind the use of archival materials.
Students must bring one print or flat 2D artwork that will fit within in an 11″x14″ frame. Recommended artwork size is 8″x10″ maximum. All framing materials will be supplied, including neutral-colored matboard and a black 11″x14″ frame.
