Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Hohokam – Masters of the Desert Hike

Hike 3 miles below towering mountains and make frequent stops at ruins, rock art sites, native plants, and learn about the Hohokam people that made a home along the creek. Hikers should bring plenty of water, wear boots or sturdy shoes, and wear protective clothing. Due to inclines and rock trail in sections hiking poles are encouraged. There is no running water at the park but there are bathrooms just past the contact station. Please come with an annual Maricopa County Park Pass or 5$ exact change for the iron ranger entry fee children under 15 are free.
PLEASE NOTE: Outdoor summer programs may be canceled on short notice due to severe weather, including extreme heat events. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 8/26/26.
