Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: America 250 Cactus Hike – Succulents of the San Tans

August 14 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free with Park Fee

Celebrate the spirit of America250 on this scenic sunset hike through the heart of the Sonoran Desert. We will walk among desert plant survivors, some of which have been growing since the dawn of the American story. This 2.1-mile hike follows the Service Road and Moonlight trails. The terrain is rocky with slight elevation change. Along the way, Ranger Jacque will discuss the incredible resilience of these desert icons and their vital role in the American landscape. Experience the beauty of the “golden hour” as the sun sets, painting a landscape that has inspired generations of explorers and dreamers. Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes, bring plenty of water, and wear sun protection for the start of the hike; handheld flashlights for after the sun sets. Restrooms are available at the Nature Center.
