Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Scorpion Hike

June 25 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Free with Park Fee
Join Ranger Derik on a nighttime hike through the park in search of scorpions and other nocturnal creatures.

The hike will cover 3 miles on an out and back to one of the only summit hikes in the County park system. The hike is rated as moderated due to the 600ft of elevation and the consistent rocky trail. Hikers should bring a liter of water, a flashlight or headlamp with extra or fresh batteries and wear sturdy shoes. If you have difficulty on rocky trails hiking poles can help with balance. Bathrooms and water are available at the trailhead. Please note there is no cell signal at the trailhead. If you have a blacklight please feel free to bring them along but you do not need them.

MEETING LOCATION: cottonwood day use area

Precise Meeting Location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/drioAbRjzMzqWB1JA

PLEASE NOTE: Outdoor summer programs may be canceled on short notice due to severe weather, including extreme heat events. The Maricopa County Parks website (www.maricopa.gov/parks) is the most accurate resource for verifying the program’s current status.
