Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Edible Plants Hike

March 13 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Free with Park Fee
Spend the morning hiking through the desert with Ranger Jacque and learn about the many medicinal and edible plants that can be found in your own backyard.

Join Ranger Jacque on a 2-mile hike on the Metate and section of the Spur Cross Trail. Though rated easy, expect rocky terrain, uneven ground, and some inclines. During the walk, we’ll discuss the native and medicinal plants found along the trail. All plants are subject to seasonal changes, so we cannot determine what plants will be fruiting at the time of the program. Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes, appropriate clothing/hat (check the weather), and plenty of water (No water available at Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area). A portable toilet is available near the trailhead.

MEETING LOCATION: Contact station at Spur Cross Trailhead

Precise Meeting Location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/QGx2XqU9TPp2ETobA

Please bring $5 cash (exact change appreciated) per person for the park entry fee; credit cards and mobile payments are not currently accepted at this time. Please arrive a few minutes early as the contact station is a few hundred feet from the parking lot.

Limit 15 participants. To register, please call the Cave Creek Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 8 with your name, phone number, and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration closes 3/11/26.
