Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: All About Desert Wildflowers

February 21 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Free with Park Fee
Ranger Nikki will show you ways to identify springtime flowers and blooms that you see along our park trails with this indoor classroom presentation and short outdoor walk near the Discovery Center.

Ranger Nikki will present a slideshow of common wildflowers seen at our Maricopa County Regional Parks and other local places. See some sample field guides and learn about iNaturalist, the free citizen science app that can identify what you see and logs your data for potential scientific study. It is helpful to download this app beforehand on your home internet connection due to connectivity issues in the parks. Also, you can learn about invasive species that are prevalent in the Valley, how you can join volunteer efforts to restore affected lands and how you can make a difference at home. This program will take place inside the Discovery Center classroom and venture around the building perimeter for firsthand observations. Bring your water and a snack to this indoor presentation. Restrooms and water are available at the Discovery Center.
