Pima County Public Library: Flashes of Brilliance – the science and wonder of Arizona lightning

Arizona experiences dramatic lightning each year, especially during our monsoon season.  Why does lightning occur, how does it form, and what makes Arizona lightning unique? U of A research on lightning detection will also be covered, as well as the impact of lightning on people and property in Arizona.
