HeatSync Labs: 3d Printing Basics – The Challenges with 3d Files

With all the free online 3d files available it is helpful to know the challenges that make some models difficult or impossible to 3d print. Often these aren’t obvious in screenshots or renders. Your host Eric Ose will explore real models and what makes them difficult.

Sadly these problems also occur in files people sell online. We will cover some tips on how to vet the designer and models you are searching for.

Although the discussion is about models you find online these are helpful things to know when designing your own projects. I spent a good hour looking for suitable videos talking about this topic and didn’t find anything so I’m doing a class.

HeatSync Labs has 12 laptops we assume you will use ours unless you choose a BYOL ticket. If you want to follow along be sure to have Prusa Slicer. We may also use Blender to look at models, but we won’t be teaching about Blender during this class.
