Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Evening Hike – Metate Trail

April 16, 2024 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free with Park Fee
Join Ranger Shaun for a night hike along the lovely Metate trail by the light of the moon! Or the dark of the rainy night, who’s the say?

Ranger Shaun’s headed out to the charming 2.1-mile metate loop for April’s gibbous moon. Weather allowing, we’ll see an always enjoyable Arizona sunset light up the sky as we make our way down into the river valley, and then explore walk among the mesquites looking for wildlife using flashlights, blacklights, and the light of the moon. The trail is rated easy to moderate, though is slightly harder in the dark. Closed toe shoes required, flashlights and jackets highly recommended. Please bring plenty of water as there is no water available at the park, though restrooms (in the form of port-a-potties) do reside at the trailhead. Blacklights encouraged, though some may be available to borrow. NO pets please.

MEETING LOCATION: Parking area

*Please Note Spur Cross does not accept debit or credit cards of any type. The $3/person admission must be paid in cash at the self-pay station on entry.
