Arizona – Sonora Desert Museum: Heirloom Fruit Tree Workshop

$60 – $66Jesús García, founder of the Kino Heritage Fruit Trees Project, will teach techniques for propagation, pruning, grafting and care of fruit trees. The class begins with a talk on the historical significance of heirloom trees in the Sonoran Desert, then moves to the hands-on aspect of maintenance, and ends with a tour through the Mission Garden at the base of A Mountain. Every participant will walk away with fruit tree cuttings and the knowledge of how to grow them.

What to Bring: Sack lunch, water in a reusable bottle, notepad and pencil, hand clippers (if you have them).
What to Expect: This is a hands-on workshop. We will begin with a presentation on heritage fruit trees, then see demos as well as gain first-hand experience in propagating trees from cuttings. All participants will take home a variety of fruit tree starts.
