Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Scorpion Hike

Join Ranger Derik on a 3.5 moderate loop hike along sections of the Slate, Quartz, Go John, and Jasper. The trail can be steep, rocky and uneven in places so make sure to wear proper shoes and or bring trekking poles to help you with balance. Please bring 2-3 liters of water with you and if you need to fill up there is a water fountain at the Nature center which is along your drive to the Slate Trailhead were the hike will start. Make sure to bring flashlights and extra batteries (cell phone light do not count) black lights will also be helpful when hunting for scorpions.

Limit 20 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext 8 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 11/20/2023.
