White Mountain Nature Center: Hummingbird Natural History, Identification and Amazing Facts

Tom Wood, who co-founded the Southeastern Arizona Bird Observatory along with his wife, Sheri L. Williamson, author of “A Peterson Field Guide To Hummingbirds Of North America” will provide an encore presentation of their hummingbird studies.

Tom and Sheri will lead the activities at the free High Country Hummingbird Festival earlier that morning at the Sipe White Mountain Wildlife Area near Springerville, which includes banding, presentations and kids activities.

The evening White Mountain Nature Center presentation will cover hummingbird natural history in Arizona, identification and amazing facts of these diminutive birds drawing on Tom’s 3 decades of banding hummingbirds, including 20 years of data from the Sipe Hummingbird Festival!

Free “make your own” hummingbird feeders for the first 50 kids in attendance!! 

This program is made possible through the Arizona Game and Fish Heritage Fund, Southeastern Arizona Bird Observatory (SABO.org) and The White Mountain Nature Center.

Free for Nature Center Members, $10 suggested donation for non-members
