McDowell Sonoran Conservancy: Who Was Here Before Us? Explore Our Past – Educational Hike

February 10, 2025 @ 9:00 am - 11:30 am

Welcome! Join us for a guided adventure in the beautiful McDowell Sonoran Preserve. We have something for everyone. The Conservancy relies on the generosity of donors to support our conservation efforts in the Preserve. Your contributions help us mitigate invasive species, restore burned areas, and monitor wildlife to identify current and future threats. To participate, we suggest a minimum donation of $10 per person, but feel free to give what you feel is appropriate. Your donation directly supports the protection of the Preserve and is tax-deductible. Read below for important details and then sign up!

Description

The McDowell Sonoran Preserve has been visited or inhabited by many people before us who left evidence of their presence or just memories of their being around, for us to rediscover.  Enjoy a 3 mile round trip to the scenic view, with moderate elevation gain, and visit an Archaic archaeological site, listen to the stories of the Hohokam civilization and the first visitors of the Southwest, the Spanish.

Our hikes explore the more remote areas of the Preserve. The difficulty of the hikes varies. Please come prepared and choose hikes that match your fitness level. Activities begin promptly at the start time, please arrive 15 minutes before the start to prepare and check-in.
