Dinosaurs of Arizona: A Legacy of 230 Million Years

A survey of known dinosaurs from Arizona, with updates on recent research findings!

Gavin McCullough is Curator of Natural History at the Arizona Museum of Natural History in Mesa, Arizona, and an Arizona native. His current research includes describing some of the ornithischian dinosaurs and Arizona’s first reported dinosaur eggshell from the late Cretaceous rocks of southern Arizona with Dr. Robert McCord (Chief Curator, AZMNH), as part of McCord’s long-term research of the Fort Crittenden Formation. Gavin also works on fossils from the early Miocene Epoch from central Arizona, and Plio-Pleistocene fossils from eastern Arizona. On occasion, he works with younger fossils from the late Pleistocene that are sometimes found in the Phoenix metro area.
