Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Lunch and Learn – Venomous Creatures

August 13, 2025 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Free with Park Fee
Join Ranger Kevin for a lunchtime look at some of the Sonoran Desert’s most venomous creatures.

Did you know that Arizona is home to 14 species of venomous snake? Or that it is home to the only venomous lizard in the U.S.? Bring a lunch and eat while we discuss a variety of snakes, lizards, spiders, scorpions and more. We’ll also look at the difference between venom and poison, what to do when you encounter a venomous animal, and what to do if you should ever be envenomated.

MEETING LOCATION: Nature Center classroom

Limit 30 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 6 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 8/12.
