Flasgstaff Festival of Science: Cinder Lake Crater Field Astronaut Training Grounds Hike

Join USGS geologist, Amber Gullikson, for a guided hike to the Cinder Lake Crater Field where the Apollo astronauts trained, and where current and future astronauts still do field geology training.

A 3.5-mile hike across flat, uneven terrain with loose volcanic cinders. Bring sturdy shoes, a hat, jacket, sunscreen, water, and snacks. Not suitable for young children or dogs. Reservation required. Landfill Road Trailhead. 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Reservations are required.

Reservations will be enabled on September 5th.
