Flagstaff Festival of Science: Indigenous Foods, Community Seed Banks, and Climate Resilience

A presentation on the NSF-sponsored research project at NAU examining the role of community seed banks in climate resilience.

The research is being conducted in two regions: Arizona and Appalachia. It focuses on seed banks that steward Indigenous or other heritage crops, and that prioritize historically underserved populations. We will share what we have learned from examining long-term seed distribution records from Arizona partner, Native Seeds/SEARCH; and how seed banks have supported community resilience in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene in Appalachia. Talk will be given by Dr. Veronica Limeberry with support from Dr. Alder Keleman Saxena.
