Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Ride with a Ranger!

November 8, 2025 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free with Park Fee

If you like to mountain bike but don’t want to go alone, or if you’re looking for a long yet leisurely ride on some spectacular desert trails, this program is for you!

We will be pedaling the entirety of the Pemberton trail, which will take us on a 15.3-mile loop around the entire park. Trail is rated moderate-to-difficult, so expect loose rock, uneven terrain, elevation change and patches of deep, sandy soil. We’ll stop at different points along the route to view the impact of recent wildfires as well as some impressive, close-up views of the east side of the McDowell mountains. At the same time, we’ll keep our eyes open for wildlife, whether it’s birds, reptiles or mammals. Sunscreen, hats and eye protection are highly encouraged. Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes with good grip, bring snacks and plenty of water, and dress for the weather. Bring your own bicycle, helmet (mandatory) and tire repair kit. Restrooms and water are available near the trailhead. NO pets, please.

MEETING LOCATION: Trailhead Staging Area (end of Shallmo Road).

Precise Meeting Location:  https://maps.app.goo.gl/HvvK79Nu8zV2BomW6
