Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Hohokam Masters of the Desert Hike

Hike through history with Ranger Derik and learn about the food and culture of the native peoples that once called the White Tank Mountains home.  

The hike will cover 2.5 miles along sections of the black rock and waterfall trails on smooth flat ground. This hike is rated as easy and is perfect for kids. During the hike you will learn about how the Hohokam people lived, what they ate and see the rock art they made. Hikers should have water sunscreen and wear sturdy shoes or boots. Bathrooms and water fountains can be found at the trailhead.

For those of you participating in the 100 Miles in 100 Days Challenge, this is a great way to work towards your goal! The challenge runs from Nov.1-Feb. 8. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list.
