SUMMARY:Tucson Bird Alliance: Birdathon Fundraiser Field Tri - Birding & Beyond Gear and Gadgets
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special field trip to support the Birdathon fundraiser! This outing is perfect for those who want to contribute to Birdathon but don’t have a team of their own. Enjoy a fun and educational birding experience\, all while supporting bird conservation. \nWe’ll have a relaxed morning of birding at Fort Lowell Park. Explore the pond\, fields\, and pecan grove as we look for spring courtship and nesting activity. Expect to see Vermilion Flycatchers in pairs and perhaps even a nesting hummingbird or two! After birding\, we’ll have a “Gear and Gadgets Show & Tell”—a chance to share and discuss our favorite birding tools. Bring your binoculars\, spotting scopes\, cameras\, or any other birding tech you love (I’ll bring my wildlife camera). We can also share phone-based tools for identification and tracking. Meeting location will be in the parking area off Craycroft Road\, near the pond. Limited to 12 participants. \nTrip difficulty: Easy (up to 1.5 miles on pavement and paths). Be sure to bring water and sun protection. \nAll registration fees will go directly to the Birdathon fundraiser\, helping protect habitats and support critical bird conservation efforts. Let’s come together to celebrate birds and make a difference! \nTeam: Bird Nerds \n$25 (minimum) donation \nLeader: Karen Howe

SUMMARY:Tucson Audubon Society: Bird Sit at Ft Lowell Park Field Trip
DESCRIPTION:Trip difficult: Easy\, the trip will be conducted sitting down. Duration 1.5- 2 hours \nTake a break from your busy life with a Bird Sit at Ft Lowell Park.  A bird sit is like an outdoor meditation with a focus on birds. The benefits include relaxation\, quieting the mind and cultivating a deeper connection to the birds.  This field trip is not about labeling and listing the birds\, but about slowing down and truly observing the birds. \nYou will NEED TO BRING A CHAIR and you will NEED TO CARRY YOUR CHAIR to the ramada and then to the pond. We will start with a guided meditation to awaken your senses. Then we will sit in silence for about 30 minutes and tune into the birds through deeper listening and observation practices. After the bird sit\, we will come back together and discuss the experience and learn how to develop a mindful birding practice that will help you fine-tune your birding skills for the future. Come experience birding from a different perspective. Exact directions will be emailed to participants. Due to the mindful nature and amount of time sitting\, in the unfortunate event of poor weather\, we may cancel this event\, therefore you can still sign up for 2 other trips in the month in case we need to cancel. The field trip leader will contact you if we need to cancel. Limited to 12 participants. \nLeader: Peggy Steffens (peggysteffens1@gmail.com) \nRegistration for this outing is free.

SUMMARY:Tucson Audubon Society: Fort Lowell Park Field Trip
DESCRIPTION:Trip difficulty: Easy. 1-mile loop on mostly level ground\, paved & grassy surfaces with uneven areas. Restroom facilities & water available. \nFort Lowell Park\, in central Tucson features historic buildings and a bit of local history\, and also offers a mix of urban and natural habitat\, making it home to a wide variety of bird species. We’ll bird the lawns and trees at the historic site for urban birds as well as the chance for sighting members of a small resident group of Eastern Bluebirds. The small pond attracts wintering ducks\, especially American Wigeons. We’ll then bird the more natural area along Pantano Wash for desert scrub birds. The pecan grove attracts woodpeckers\, and is also one of the best places to find a White-winged Dove in the winter months. In all we’ll see 20-30 species. Meet in the main parking lot. Bring your binoculars. Wrap up around 10:00 am. Limit 12 participants. \nLeader: Holly Kleindienst (hollykleindienst@gmail.com) \nRegistration for this trip is free.
