Michele has worked closely with Dr. Babendure since he came to Arizona in 2010 to established the Arizona SciTech Festival. She supported Dr. Babendure and the Arizona Technology Council Foundation (now DBA SciTech Institute) as a contractor from 2016 to 2019. In September 2019, she joined the Institute as an employee. Her primary role is Grant Writer and Editor. As Grant Writer, Michele has successfully brought in local, organizational, foundational and National Science Foundation funding totaling more than $1,360,000. As Editor, she assists with the organization’s reporting, strategic planning, communications, and marketing. She has also worked to secure in-kind support, engage AmeriCorp Vistas, and obtain computer donations, etc. for SciTech Institute programs.
Prior to officially joining SciTech, Michele worked at Arizona State University from 2006-2016. She was involved in the planning and development of several university initiatives including the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Institute of Sustainability and the Center for Integrated Solutions to Climate Challenges at ASU, a former initiative of the Walton Sustainability Solutions Initiatives. Her responsibilities included grant proposal writing and reporting, strategic planning, project coordination and development, community engagement activities, and communications and web development.
