You’ll leave the workshop with a variety of your own seed starts\, ready to be planted in your garden when the time comes! \nAll materials are included in this free workshop. SUMMARY:Willow Bend Environmental Education Center: Pollinator Puppet Making Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join us to celebrate the importance of pollinators! From bats to butterflies and bugs\, you’ll have a chance to help tell a visual story of some of our most important ecological allies. \nWillow Bend Environmental Education Center is bringing art and ecology together through Nature Tales: Puppets and Pollinators\, a creative collaboration with Red Herring Puppets and Momentum Aerial. This project blends storytelling\, large-scale puppetry\, and hands-on community experiences to celebrate the essential role of pollinators in our ecosystems. Artist Lisa Aimee Sturz\, Owner and Artistic Director of Red Herring Puppets\, has designed and fabricated six large-scale pollinator puppets ranging from two to four feet tall and developed pollinator-inspired mask activities using recycled cardboard and mixed media. \nThe project now moves into its community phase. On March 7 from 1 to 5 PM\, Willow Bend will host a Community Puppet Building and Finishing Workshop where participants will help paint and assemble the pollinator puppets alongside Red Herring Puppets and Willow Bend staff. Because of the detailed crafting involved\, this workshop is best suited for older teens and adults\, though youth are welcome with adult supervision. Space is limited\, and advance registration is required. \nNature Tales: Puppets and Pollinators is an ARTx project\, proudly presented by Creative Flagstaff \nARTx art + ideas experience \nTransforming Flagstaff into an Immersive Art Experience \nARTx is a 3-day multimedia art experience dispersed across Flagstaff in unexpected places. Dress up as your favorite animal\, create your own animal mask\, learn about the sounds of wildlife and more! Hands-on crafts\, demonstrations\, activities for all ages.  \nScience Saturday is an event held on the first Saturday of every month from 9:30am-11:30am. Each month is focused on a different theme and each event offers fun and educational hands-on activities. Artists\, scientists\, and experts join us on occasion to provide extra special opportunities to learn and explore. DESCRIPTION:Join Mike Dechter of the Arizona Mushroom Society to learn more about the cryptic kingdom – mushrooms and fungi. \nThis presentation* will be for those with incidental knowledge and curiosity about fungi. Mike will present on some fungi 101 – what are fungi and why are they important? He will also discuss basic mushroom anatomy\, and identification of wild mushrooms. The last part of the presentation focuses on our Arizona Fab 4 Fungi – 4 easy to ID\, edible wild mushrooms that grow here in northern Arizona. \n* This is an indoor presentation.
