DESCRIPTION:Join a naturalist-guided walk along Big Wash in Oro Valley\, on an easy- to moderate-level trail. \nIn addition to great views of the Santa Catalina Mountains\, this area is designated an important wildlife corridor\, so we’ll keep an eye out for native birds such as Gila woodpeckers and cactus wrens\, and other desert wildlife Trekking poles encouraged\, and sure-footedness is a must. \nDIRECTIONS: Big Wash Trailhead\, 1790 E. Rancho Vistoso Boulevard\, Oro Valley 85755 From the intersection of N. Oracle Road and N. Rancho Vistoso Blvd\, drive west on N. Rancho Vistoso Blvd. for about half a mile. As soon as you cross the bridge over Big Wash\, get in the left turn lane and turn left on Paseo Arroyo Mayor. Then turn left almost immediately down a slight incline and park in the large dirt parking area. There is no water and no restroom facility at this location. Please carry water and wear sturdy hiking shoes.

It will highlight the transition of the Barrio from Territorial status to the arrival of the railroad\, urban renewal and now gentrification. \nMeet Your Guides: Mely Bohlman is an Environmental Education Program Specialist for Pima County Conservation Lands and Resources. Franklin Lane is a former High School teacher and hiking guide. He is a member of the Pima County Master Naturalists and a passionate Southwest\, amateur historian. He currently serves as a docent at the Presidio San Augustin del Tucson.

Cienega Creek Preserve is a great place to enjoy the spectacle of migration. Sections of the trail are steep and rocky. Please carry water and wear sturdy hiking shoes. \nDIRECTIONS: Cienega Creek Natural Preserve at Gabe Zimmerman Davidson Canyon Trailhead\, 16000 E. Marsh Station Road 85641 From I-10 take exit 281- Sonoita/Patagonia to Marsh Station Road. Travel northeast on Marsh Station Road approximately 3 miles and watch for the Gabe Zimmerman Davidson Canyon Trailhead sign on the right. If you get to the large colorful Cienega Creek sign on the left side of the road\, you have gone too far. Turn around and go back down the road to the trailhead parking area. There are restrooms but there is no water available at this trailhead. Group meets at the ramada in the parking lot. Sections of the trail are steep and rocky. \nPlease carry water and wear sturdy hiking shoes.

Barrio Viejo is home to one of the largest 19th century adobe communities in the Southwest. This is a 0.9 mile walking tour from the El Tiradito shrine to Lee Ho’s former grocery store. It will highlight the transition of the Barrio from Territorial status to the arrival of the railroad\, urban renewal and now gentrification. \nMeet Your Guides: Mely Bohlman is an Environmental Education Program Specialist for Pima County Conservation Lands and Resources. Franklin Lane is a former High School teacher and hiking guide. He is a member of the Pima County Master Naturalists and a passionate Southwest\, amateur historian. He currently serves as a docent at the Presidio San Augustin del Tucson.
