youcubed: Estimating Dots (K)

This activity is a valuable opportunity for students to think about estimation and making visual justifications related to the approximate number system.

This is not an activity about counting and naming a set of dots by the number it represents. This activity is focused on developing students’ sense of quantity and comparing two quantities visually. This activity is good for embodied cognition which means experiencing mathematics through the senses and the body and developing the Approximate Number System, ANS.
