Steve Spangler Science: Balancing Hex Nut Challenge

A little magnetism helps you balance a wobbly tower of hex nuts on the narrow rim of a glass.

It’s possible that you have such great eye-hand coordination and rock-steady nerves that stacking five hex nuts on the rim of a glass is how you begin each day. Odds are, however, you don’t so you’ll need some help. This activity clearly shows the advantage of using magnets for some setups. If you do this activity both with and without the magnets, it’s a safe bet you’ll be attracted to using them for sure.
