In this video students hear what three different genetic research scientists do and how they got started in their careers. Includes story about scientist who earned a degree in literature but was motivated to study genetics (and cancer in pet dogs) by seeing X-Men movies! Second segment in this video is a chat with all three scientists and Q&A with questions from students. Special note about most diseases having both genetic and environmental risk factors: sleep, nutrition, exercise, using your brain, reducing stress, good social interactions, and decreasing exposure to toxins.
