Students will learn what causes type I and type II diabetes and investigate what is happening in the body of a person who has diabetes, including the function of the pancreas in insulin production and how insulin allows for glucose to enter cells.
About the Program
The Siemens Foundation and Discovery Education have partnered to create Siemens STEM Day, a beloved K-12 STEM program that offers an extensive library of free, standards-aligned activities that bring science, technology, engineering, and math to life inside and outside the classroom. These resources have been specifically designed to be easy to implement for educators, parents, Siemens employees, and community volunteers while remaining hands-on and engaging for students in all grades. Additionally, Siemens STEM Day offers dynamic career profile videos, educator resources, employee training, and an annual sweepstakes to make for endless possibilities for engaging in STEM.
