Students will construct a coin battery and measure its voltage output. They will compare their battery’s voltage to that of traditional AA/AAA batteries and consider modifications to their battery so it produces enough power to light up an LED bulb.
About the Program
The Siemens Foundation and Discovery Education have partnered to create Siemens STEM Day, a beloved K-12 STEM program that offers an extensive library of free, standards-aligned activities that bring science, technology, engineering, and math to life inside and outside the classroom. These resources have been specifically designed to be easy to implement for educators, parents, Siemens employees, and community volunteers while remaining hands-on and engaging for students in all grades. Additionally, Siemens STEM Day offers dynamic career profile videos, educator resources, employee training, and an annual sweepstakes to make for endless possibilities for engaging in STEM.
