Freeport - McMoRan: Dig Into Mining - Microbe Probe

In this activity, students research the antimicrobial properties of copper.

To test copper’s effects on microbes, students use copper sulfate (which ancient alchemists called blue vitriol). Students vary the concentration of copper sulfate solution to determine its efficacy at killing bacteria.
