Three big-time experts in their field stop by to help break down different aspects of design.

Rosalee Ramer started her career as a professional monster truck driver at the ripe old age of 14. She’s 20 now and applying what she learned on the monster truck circuit to her mechanical engineering degree. Oh, and she’s also trying to perfect her “corkscrew.” That’s a new trick where her truck does a twisting backwards flip. So far she’s only been able to land on her roof.

Even as a kid, Ralph Gilles got strong reactions from the ways different cars looked. He puts his lifelong connection to cars to use as the head of design for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. You’ve probably seen his iconic design for the Chrysler 300 rolling down many a street. He gives us a look into his crystal ball and talks about the future of car design.

Jay Shuster is also steeped in automotive history. A Detroit native, Shuster’s dad was a designer for GM. Jay says he’s been drawing since birth, but instead of following in his father’s footsteps, he took the offramp marked Hollywood (watching Star Wars at a young age probably helped a lot too). Jay sat in the driver’s seat for Pixar’s latest “Cars 3.” As a production designer, he had a hand in creating the characters and universe of talking cars.
