DESCRIPTION:Citizen or community science is a way for the public to get involved in science by incorporating volunteers in different aspects of the research process. For years\, the Arizona Game and Fish Department has relied on volunteers to help us carry out our mission to conserve Arizona’s diverse wildlife resources. Since April is Citizen Science Month\, we decided to host a series of webinars designed for educators to highlight some of these projects that depend on volunteers. \nIn this session\, Jeff Sorensen\, the Department’s invertebrates program manager\, will be joining us to discuss the Land Snails of Arizona project which recruits the help of hikers and other outdoor recreationists to submit snail observations. Having cared for her mother through the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease\, she understands firsthand the emotional and practical challenges that come with the condition. Her personal journey has inspired her to lead this support group and help others as they go through their journey. \nOutside of work\, Therese enjoys relaxing on the beach\, creating beautiful flower arrangements\, and cherishing time with family and friends. \nShe looks forward to connecting with you and walking alongside you during this important time.

DESCRIPTION:Take the first step in your astrophotography journey with an intensive course at Lowell Observatory! \nThis 2-hour program accommodates a maximum of 6 guests. Using our 17-inch Planewave CDK Telescope and QSI 683 CCD camera\, you will be taken through the process of imaging two different objects. Then\, we will teach you how to combine\, stack\, and edit the shots into full-color images using a program called Pixinsight. At the end of the course\, you’ll take home digital copies of the two images and all of the raw data to use as you like\, as well as additional resources to aid you in your astrophotography journey! \nMembers of Lowell Observatory will receive a 20% discount on their course fee.
