Tucson Botanical Gardens: Drawing Bird Portraits

Celebrate some of southeastern Arizona’s most iconic birds in this fun all-levels pencil drawing class. We’ll learn some basic bird anatomy while using a variety of drawing techniques that help hone our skills of observation. Our subjects will include Gila woodpeckers, Phainopepla, and Gambel’s quail.

Art materials not provided, please provide your own. Recommended art supplies:

  • 2B graphite pencil
  • pencil sharpener
  • kneaded eraser
  • drawing paper (or any blank paper will do!)
  • reference photos will be provided by the instructor via email
