Tucson Audubon Society: SUNDAY IN THE PARKS – CHUCK FORD LAKESIDE PARK Field Trip

Welcome to Sunday in the Parks! The last Sunday of the month we venture to one of Tucson’s many urban parks to hone our birding skills in a fun and joyful manner. This month we visit Chuck Ford Lakeside Park.

When you combined a large lake, tall trees, ball fields and native flora you are in for a great day of birding. Come join fellow birders as we explore this eastside hotspot known for a variety of birds year-round plus the chance of an infrequent visit from migrating shorebirds, gulls and terns. This park sports a list of nearly 230 species, so you just might find your next favorite bird.

The pace will be relaxed with seating available for breaks or during mini bird sit moments. Whether this is your first time or you’ve been birding for years, there is always something new to experience. Open to all levels.

Plan to wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring your binoculars, hat, water and snacks as needed. Meet in the south parking lot which is accessed from E Stella Rd. Limit 12 participants.

Trip difficulty: Easy. Walking Distance: 1.5-1.75 miles.Trip Duration: 2.0-2.5 hours. Ground Condition: Concrete and paved surfaces. Ample parking, restroom facilities and benches available at periodic intervals throughout the park.
